History
Candiac was created on 31st January, 1957, when the Quebec Government accepted request of a Canadian-European investors group i.e the Candiac Development Corporation. Investors collected more than $4.5 million and bought around 2,500 acres of land from the neighbouring towns and farmers.

In all of its early days, Candiac was the home to 320 people who used to live near the St. Lawrence River. Most of the inhabitants of this place were either the farmers or Montrealers who owned residence in Candiac.
