Portage la Prairie is located at around 75km west of Winnipeg, along Trans-Canada Highway and sits on Assiniboine River, which flooded town persistently until diversion channel north to the Lake Manitoba which was built to divert flood water.

1. Fort la Reine Museum: Fort la Reine Museum was built in year 1738 and it is one of the best forts of western expansion which was directed by Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, a first military commander in west of which is best known as Canada.
